Baking: Green Tea Cake

Comments

this looks delicious :)
mmm! i've made this before (from this recipe i guess even!)

i ended up with gunpowder tea which is not actually powder at all! i was like, "fuck it!" and just ended up eating the tea bits. which was tasty even though the flavour was uneven! but now that we might have a coffee grinder i might do this again and see if i can grind my tea.

so thanks for the tip!
Sweet heaven! Thank you for posting this! I'll have to try this recipe.

This looks delicious. I guess that settles the question what cake I will make for the Easter family get-together. Thanks!

This looks fabulous! Thanks for sharing the recipe! :) I've only ever tried green tea ice cream, which I love, but am anxious to try this out as well. :)

For this I will love you forever.
i know it is delicious, i did try to make once, but color turn to brawn instead of green. what is wrong?

I realize I'm a little late to the party on this thread, but I found it because I was trying to find a recipe to compensate for the fact that Trader Joe's has discontinued their green tea baking mix.

the next time you make this, instead of chocolate chips, try stirring in some red bean paste (available in cans at asian food markets) for a classic Japanese taste combination!
Yum! I've made this a few times now, and its absolutely delicious. Thank you for coming up with this!

Great recipe and love your black cat
If I don´t have tea powder, can I use concentrated liquid green tea for making this cake? Please, if someone knows the answer!!!
ive never done it, but i probably wouldn't try it either. good luck if you do!

hihi, just wanted to know before i start to bake... coz i'm a noob at it =(

what kind of flour do u use? cake flour?
i have used both. i think i tend toward the cake flour, but it doesn't really matter.

enjoy!
Does this recipe use any baking powder? I don't think it's listed as one of your ingredients...
Nope. It's pretty simple.
does "T" stand for teaspoon or tablespoon?
Tablespoon.

Usually in recipes "T" is for tablespoon and "t" is for teaspoon.
Enjoy the cake!
Which brand of green tea powder is the best? Where can I get them? Thanks!
Zoe, I don't really know how to answer this question. I got lucky (perhaps) asking at a Middle Eastern grocery store in my neighborhood. I am in need of a new package so it is time for me to find another source. If you have any Asian grocers, you may have luck there. That is where I am going to try. Just be sure you get macha powder, not sencha. I cannot vouch for sencha.
